Week 5: algorithms and Big O. Lab 4 is open; Lab 3 scores are on Classroom 50
On Monday, October 19 we ask a new question about programs: not only does it work but how fast does it work as the input grows. Linear and binary search, three sorting algorithms, Big O, structs and recursion. Watch CS50x Week 3 (Algorithms) before class; the links are on the week 5 page.
Lab 4: Search and Sort is open: both searches with a comparison counter, selection and bubble sort chosen from the command line, and a recursive pyramid and factorial. Due Friday, October 23, 23:59.
Lab 3 is closed; your score is under Releases in your repository. Your semester project is ready: type your student number on the project page and your card opens (only yours; the page holds nothing but encrypted cards). Accept the project repository on Classroom 50 from the card, write the plan and task list in the README, and make your first commit this week.

Week 4: arrays and strings. Lab 3 is open; Lab 2 scores are on Classroom 50
On Monday, October 12 we open the hood: how
makereally compiles, how to debug instead of guessing, and the first data structure, the array, including strings, which turn out to be arrays of characters with a zero at the end. Watch CS50x Week 2 (Arrays) before class; the links are on the week 4 page.Lab 3: Strings and Ciphers is already accepted the same way as Lab 2 (orange button, Codespaces, push). Three programs: min/max/average of an array, a readability grade for any text, and a Caesar cipher driven from the command line. Due Friday, October 16, 23:59.
Lab 2 is closed; your score is under Releases in your repository and on classroom50.org. If you did not accept the organization invitation yet, do it today: without it you cannot accept labs.

Week 3: C begins. Lab 2 is on Classroom 50; accept the GitHub organization invitation
On Monday, October 5 we move from Scratch to C, following CS50 Week 1. Before class, watch the lecture and read the notes linked on the week 3 page, and run
hello.conce on cs50.dev.Lab 2 uses Classroom 50. Everyone on the course list has received an invitation to the FiratUniversity-IJDP-SoftEng GitHub organization by email (to your student address). Accept it before Monday, with the same GitHub account you used for Lab 1. In the lab you click Accept lab lab02 on the Lab 2 page, and a repository with the starter code is created for you; every push is graded automatically, part by part.
Lab 1 grades are in. If you did not receive feedback or think there is a mistake, email the instructor with your repository link.

Semester project: how it works, 15% of the final grade
The project page explains the semester project: 15% of your final grade, built in your own GitHub repository from week 5 to week 15, with commit tracking and a live demo on December 28.
Each student receives a personal project in week 5 (October 19), assigned by the instructor from a bank of twenty projects across six themes, from text and ciphers in C to a small web app. Every project has a minimum scope and an advanced scope, sized for one person. Until then: do the labs; they are the practice ground for the project.

Before Monday: watch CS50 Week 0; all you need for Lab 1 is a GitHub account
From Monday, September 28, every class has a lab in the second half of the slot (lecture 13:30–14:45, lab from 15:00). Before then:
- Watch CS50x Week 0 (Scratch) by David Malan and read its notes. The links are in the Before class box of the week 2 page. You are enrolled on edX; the lecture is also on YouTube.
- Have a GitHub account ready (sign up, 2 minutes; use your university email and a username you would show an employer).
- Create a free Scratch account at scratch.mit.edu.
Lab 1 uses a simple route: you make your own private copy of the lab on GitHub, add
drferhatuas a collaborator, write your name in the README and submit by pushing. Every step is on the Lab 1 page, including a short How to submit. You can start right after the lecture, even before I join you in the lab.Deadline: Friday, October 2, 23:59. Every lab is due on the Friday of its week at 23:59. From Lab 2 on we switch to Classroom 50; you will get an invitation to the course organization by email.

Welcome to Introduction to Computer Science, Fall 2026
We met for the first time today: the course plan, how a Monday works, and the one question of the semester (how does 0 and 1 become everything?). The written version is on the week 1 page. The course website you are reading is where everything lives from now on: weeks, labs, the project, announcements. Bookmark it.
